I've had Salukis my entire life my mom, Anna, has been breeding Salukis since 1980. Ch. El-Shaddai's Saukenuk Mac F.Ch. was a cream dog from that 1st litter and he became my 1st show dog. At the age of 10 I entered the Jr. Showmanship ring with Mac, he and I did great! I even won a Best Junior with him from the Novice Jr. Class.
I've shown many of my mom's Salukis as
well some for my "aunts" or maybe other "moms" Kim Allison, Carmen Day & Tina
Jumbelick. My very 1st Saluki
was Ch. El-Shaddai's Amazing Grace, Gracie, she and I had some challenges in the
show ring, so I enlisted the help of family friend Arthur Favors to help me
finish her. My 2nd Saluki was Ch. El-Shaddai's Guardian Angel, Feather,
who I did great in the show ring with, she finished in very limited showing & I had a
blast!
The 1st litter that I co-bred with my
mom & Carmen Day was a matching between Ch. El-Shaddai's Ruger Mark Two, JC x
El-Shaddai's Special Romance JC. This mating
produced my all-time favorite show dog (bitch actually),
Ch. El-Shaddai's Kabad
'el Halal JC, Abby, as well as my silly parti boy, Maha.
Abby & I had our ups and downs in the show ring. Many judges overlooked
her sound movement and outline because she was parti, but not all of them were
blind, and for that I am very appreciative!
My next boy has come from a litter that
was bred by Carmen Day, Kim Allison, mom & me. It was a matching between 2
of Carmen's, Danny &
Pearl. I brought home
Pablo-Tyrone (El-Shaddai Emma's Dancer
Chezday), and he is
such a sweetie! In his first show from the 6-9 month Puppy class he was Reserve Winners Dog
to a Major, although his sister Bonnie did him one better with a Winners Bitch! I look forward to continued success with
my Pablo-boy,
as he develops and matures.
My snuggle buddy has come from our latest litter (born June 23, 2007 & Co-Bred by Anna Meszaros, Carmen Day & Jaqi TerHaar from Mambo x Abby), he's my little shadow & from about 4 weeks on was "my dog". Mr. Zazu (El-Shaddai's Eternal Watermark) has my heart in a way that some just do. It could be that he's an Abby son, or my long awaited tri. I'm not sure the reason, but he & I have a connection that you don't get with every dog you own. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my others, but there's just something different about him. I could go on & on about it, but I'll not bore you! :o)
Overall, I can't imagine my life without a Saluki (preferably multiple Salukis), and my hope is that my children will have inherited the "Saluki gene" from me and continue on what my mom started. I believe that Salukis should be both functional & beautiful, never forsaking one for the other. I don't know what the future holds, but I am sure that it's going to be a lot of fun!!
